A remote observatory under the dark skies of the Great Basin

The Bristlecone Pine lives on the high, dry, rocky peaks of the Great Basin region, and are some of the oldest living organisms on Earth. Their rings look back through time, quietly gathering and recording thousands of years of history.

Bristlecone Observatory is perched high in the Great Basin, under some of the darkest Bortle 1 skies in the western United States. Like the pine, the observatory looks backwards through time to gather and record light that has traveled for thousands of years and more to reach us.
